Back to a darker palette for colours this week for a long weekend in York with my best friend. It was absolutely freezing in York, I was not prepared for it, as you can tell from my face in some of these shots, haha.
Layering was crucial this weekend and a dark palette of colours is always a favourite of mine, no matter the weather, but certainly preferred in cold, winter months. For this week’s outfit, I am wearing a lovely wool ribbed sweater in navy blue (oversized with a batwing sleeve – love!), layered over a black, super sized wool top and keeping warm while also adding a splash of colour to the look with this red wine coat in oversize. As always, I’m wearing super skinny coated jeans in black and my favourite cut-out boots from Office. My Jerôme Dreyfuss bag is back, too and I’m accessorising with this fab black hat from H&M; love how easy it is and the unique style it adds to any looks – plus, I really, really don’t like carrying umbrellas around (yes, I know I live in one of the wettest countries in Europe!) so, it’s super practical for keeping the rain away from my hair and eyes and I look stylish, too! I wasn’t wearing my hat at that moment because – hurrah! – it was so lovely and sunny in York so I decided to take advantage and rock my Karen Walker-look-a-like shades from Urban Outfitters.

I had a wonderful weekend in York; it is such a beautiful, quaint town with cobbled little streets winding past each other, local, unique shops with gorgeous jewellery, delicious chocolates and a lovely haberdashery shop which I fell in love with on my first visit, last year. I really took advantage of my getaway; I left my computer and iPad both at home in London and, as 3G barely works in the city centre, I spent all my time exploring the streets, people-watching, tasting heavenly chocolates (York is the home of Nestlé and chocolate!) and having warm cup of teas while catching up with my best friend. We went to a vintage fair and I snagged a gorgeous oversized silk woven pouch which looks like it could be a vintage La Baggagerie – it was love at first sight. It felt so good to be “disconnected” from the real world for a while and I came back to London feeling truly re-energised and fresh, ready to get back to work.
What did you do this weekend? Any new purchases you are obsessed with? Wish you all a fabulous week!
