Having been to a few blogger events hosted in London, I am all too familiar with how it feels to enter a room and know absolutely no-one, whilst it seems as though everyone else knows one another. London is a big place, swarming with bloggers but we rarely get to meet up under an informal (non-branded) circumstance, so I thought the ideal way to amend this would be to organize a bloggers lunch…
The plan was to meet-up and chat all things blog related over a glass of wine and a pizza. Luckily, after searching for a central location to host the meet-up, I came across B-Soho, located just off Oxford Street, who served a delicious selection of pizzas. So, the date was set. With a gorgeous chic, yet rustic interior and mood lighting, B-Soho really is the perfect place for a relaxed, informal lunch!
With goodie bags at the ready, and a bundle of nerves on standby (I was slightly worried no-one would turn up), my boyfriend (designated photographer) and I headed up to London to prepare for the lunch. After arriving at the venue, I was greeted by the lovely Louise, who had set our table up downstairs and then before I knew it, it was 1.30 and the first bloggers started filing in. As a blogging fanatic (I must read over 100 blogs every week), I was really excited to meet all of the girls and couldn’t wait to discuss things only a blogger could relate to (boyfriends just don’t understand sometimes).
In total, there were eleven of us, which was a perfect number actually, as it meant we all really got to talk (and boy, did we talk!). I don’t think there was a moment of silence between us, even when our food arrived.
I had the pleasure of meeting Ana, Rachel, Joelle, Chloe, Lorna, Ashleigh, Lucy and Sinead, who were all so friendly, and it felt like we’d all met before as we got along so well. Lucy and Sinead from Red PR kindly brought us all a bag of goodies, so I can’t wait to review these bits in another post for you (as well as the goodie bags I prepared!).
B-Soho very kindly created a unique set menu for the occasion, which included a glass of prosecco on arrival, a delicious pizza and half a bottle of red/white wine each. I opted for their filled Calzone (oozing with cheese), which was absolutely delicious, whilst the other girls went for a few different types of pizzas (each looked equally delicious). After lunch, we chatted about the blogging world (and the scary prospect of entering into the YouTube territory) as well as various other girly subject topics.
Overall, it was a really successful event and achieved what it set out to do – allow other London based bloggers to meet up informally, rather than in a forced environment and to chat about all things blog related. Although they try, people who aren’t in the blog world can’t always relate to those who blog (it really is another world out there), so it was lovely to meet other like-minded bloggers who could share blogging related stories (and Instagram their food without any raised eyebrows). Thank you all for coming girls, I look forward to meeting you again!
Thank you to B-Soho for their fantastic hospitality and their delicious food. The set up couldn’t have been more perfect and everyone really enjoyed themselves. It’s a really affordable pizzeria for such a centrally located restaurant, so if you’re shopping in Oxford Street and need to re-charge, I’d definitely recommend you pop in!
I will be hosting another meet-up in June, so if you are interested please leave your name, blog URL and email address in the comment box and I will email over the information when the details are finalized. It won’t be a bloggers lunch, it will be more of a cocktails and drinks party, where bloggers can mingle, try some new beauty products (and go home with a few goodies, as I already have the goodie bags planned) and meet one another!
