It’s my skincare overhaul day two and already, my skin is looking more radiant and much fresher. It may have helped that I had a facial yesterday, at the lovely Mariott County Hall Hotel in Westminster (more about that in another post), however the skin products I’ve been using have most definitely contributed to this. On today’s menu is:
Eau Thermale Avene
I wish I had discovered this product before the red patches on my face started flaring up, because it’s so cooling and so soothing, I honestly don’t see how I ever got along without this. Cooling sprays, or beauty waters have actually been around awhile, and are hugely popular in France, however it’s only recently with brands like Caudalie bringing them to the UK, that they have become popular. You can actually buy this in Boots, but it is quite expensive, so I am pleased I brought a bottle back from France for 7 euros. Recommended for skin flare ups, sensitive skin, nappy rash, sun burn or acne, the spray soothes and cools irritated skin, making sure it doesn’t appear red and blotchy. Perfect for using under your primer, it moisturises skin and leaves it silky smooth. Warning, please don’t spray it in your hair if you’ve just styled it. It is water-y and will make it wet (I had to re blow dry my hair, after going a bit wild with the spray), oh the life I lead.
You can find this in Boots if you fancied trying it, more info here.
Medik8 Daily Scrub
This is a much thinner and more delicate exfoliator than the one I tried yesterday, although you wouldn’t think it based on the packaging, as I personally think it looks quite chemical based (I think it’s the black and white packaging). Recommended for all skin types, and stating that it is ‘professional strength’ sounds a little contradictory, but despite this – it actually does the job really well. The grains are really tiny, unlike the Yon Ka one, where they were visible, but it still removes dead skin cells efficiently, leaving silky smooth skin underneath. It’s not drying on skin, and cleanses your pores like no other exfoliator I’ve tried before. It’s extremely refreshing and I was actually surprised at how much I like it! If you suffer from sensitive, dry or oily skin – I think this would be perfect, as it removes any remaining dirt, unblocks pores and leaves skin feeling soft, without being overly sebium based.

Sk:n Vitamin-Rich Cleanser
It’s rare to find a great cleanser that actually moisturises skin whilst removing make-up and impurities, so I’m really pleased I’ve found this. Designed for dry and sensitive skin (I bet you’re all sick of hearing that phrase now), it contains Vitamins A, C & E and Evening Primose Oil, which is supposed to be really rejuvenating for tired, dehydrated skin. It has quite an unusual scent, a mix of citrus and oils, but it’s really refreshing and once I run out, I am most definitely purchasing another. Although I am a new found lover of Bioderm, this is a great non-oily cleanser, dependent on what you prefer (I like to alternate).
