Simple have been a firm favourite of mine since I was 13, providing great skincare for sensitive skin sufferers, with an affordable price range. My essentials usually include the face wash, daily exfoliater and the light moisturiser, however I am always buying and trying new bits in their range, so I thought I’d dedicate a post to the new items (or old favourites that I haven’t yet tried).
Simple Kind To Skin Perfecting BB Beauty Balm
As someone who hates wearing heavy foundation in hot, humid conditions (it basically melts off your face anyway, so there’s not an awful lot of point), BB creams are the perfect solution, however I’m yet to find a brand that fits in with my skin type and provides light and even coverage for dry skin. Simple are one of the very few brands who keep my skin until control (and red free). So when I heard they had a new Beauty Balm out, I couldn’t wait to try it. With a universal shade and an added SPF 15, it matches the colour of your skin whether it’s gained a little holiday glow (or not) and it also protects against UV rays. Thick enough to provide enough coverage for those who like even, red free and flawless finishes, but light enough to not notice it’s there, it is the perfect balance of both. With pink shimmery pigments, it instantly illuminates skin (without looking like a clown) and leaves you with a lovely summer ready finish.
Simple Moisture Boost Hydro Mist
Beauty waters, or hydrating sprays have made a real statement in the beauty world over the past few months, and I have fallen for them too – owning a whopping five myself. Oops. However, as with handbags, you can never have too many, especially when you’re travelling lots (they are amazing for refreshing your face after a long plane journey). Although catering for sensitive skin, like always, Simple’s Hydro Mist has added Vitamin E and Lotus Flower ingredients, giving it a light, soft and floral scent that awakens skin and leaves you feeling refreshed and hydrated. In a travel sized bottle (50ml) this is perfect for popping into your hand luggage and using whenever you start to feel your skin drying out. Whether you’re by the pool, on a plane, a long car journey or even getting ready for work in the morning – it’s a new favourite that I’m sure I will be using well into the winter months also!
Simple Kind To Skin Soothing Facial Toner
Toner isn’t really something I use these days, I find alternating between a cleanser and toner is too fiddly, preferring a Micellaire Solution like Bioderma or Melvita Rose, however this was surprisingly refreshing and soothing, and it really clarifies your skin in the mornings, prepping it for make-up. 100% alcohol free, it doesn’t upset my skin, nor does it irritate the redness. It’s not too drying on your skin, nor does it leave skin feeling too tight – which I find a few toners tend to do. Overall, a really great, affordable product that is worth trying if you prefer cleansers and toners to wipes or waters.
If you do suffer from sensitive, irritated or dry skin like I do, Simple really is the best brand overall for affordability, accessibility (Boots & Superdrug stock it) and effectiveness. I love trying new brands but I tend to be drawn back to Simple on many occasions. However, if you fancy trying new brands (but don’t want to compromise and risk upsetting your skin) make sure you follow my Skincare Sunday series (funnily enough, a post every Sunday) as I review a new brand each week.
