I’m not someone who has ever really suffered with spots or acne, which I guess is lucky, but one thing that really does bother me about my skin is these little red patches on my cheeks and my chin, which despite various visits to the doctor, no-one can decipher what they really are. Although they cannot be seen after a layer of foundation, once my make-up starts to fade during the day, they come to the surface again – and really, it’s quite irritating.
So, in a bid to get rid of these pesky red patches, and once again have smooth skin – I am currently trialing SkinCeuticals Redness Neutralizer, which works to protect the skin from environmental factors that could cause redness, in addition to calming the skin, hydrating it and reliving irritation. As a relatively new product, it has recently undergone a study involving 48 people suffering with redness and in 12 weeks, they all reported a 55% improvement. 55% might not sound much to you, but to me – who has been eagerly awaiting a solution for redness for almost a year and a half, I couldn’t wait to give it a try.
The product itself smells a little like suncream (which I love as it reminds me of holidays), but is very light on skin and immediately alleviates any burning, irritation or itchiness. It is very moisturizing on skin and sinks in almost immediately, meaning that you are able to wear it under your foundation, or under your base. Personally, in order to see a real difference, I would try and wear make-up or heavy foundation as little as possible if you are trialing this product, as it is important to let skin breath and although going war paint free for a week seems a little daunting, it’s actually much easier than you think.
I’ve been using this for a week and a half now, and have seen a real difference in the texture of my skin more than anything – as it is no longer rough and dry (a result of the red patches), but much softer, smoother and free of little raised areas. The redness has subsided a little, which I am really pleased about – however the main difference is in the overall feel of my skin, as it’s far less irritated looking than previously. I will continue to use this, and I’m excited to see the results after 12 weeks, but for now, I am really pleased with the improvements so far!
At £70 for a 50ml bottle, this is an expensive solution, but if you are suffering from rosacea (which this product is used to treat), redness, flushing or irritated skin, then you’ll know how very frustrating it is, and how really – you cannot put a price on having your old skin back. I personally love this product, and although I haven’t been trying it out for 12 weeks yet, I have seen a difference in my skin in just a week and a half – so I am really positive about its improvement.
