After a sluggish winter, where fitness and beauty often takes a back seat in favour of comfort food and watching movies in bed, it’s often hard to get back into the summer swing of things. But with hot, sunny holidays on the horizon, it’s time to refresh, relax and get summer ready! Here’s how:
Hair Repair
The colder months can take its toll on our hair follicles, which are often weaker and more brittle in the cold, wet and windy weather. So in order to have a re-vamp ready for your holiday, why not visit a hair salon and debut a new ‘do in time for the sunny weather? Many salons actually offer the Brazilian hair strengthening treatment (or similar) which strengthens, thickens and smoothes your hair, perfect for keeping humidity and frizz at bay whilst you’re away.
Spa Refresh
A relaxing, chilled spa day is sometimes all you need to feel yourself again – especially as for most of the week, we are consumed with work and very rarely have time to ourselves. Whether you wish to book yourself in for an entire day or just a few little spa treatments, you can be rest assured that a little time out bound to get you feeling in the summer swing again!
Detox
Detoxing is often linked to horrible juice diets, sucking lemons and starving yourself, but in all honesty, it doesn’t have to be like that. The 5.2 diet (where you fast on 500 calories for 2 days a week and eat normally for the rest) is a great way to boost your metabolism, healthily suppress your appetite a little and clear out all those unhealthy junk meals in time for summer. I actually found it really easy to follow and very effective in terms of losing weight (although that doesn’t have to be your primary reason for following it) and feeling overall much more refreshed.
Re-Vamp Your Wardrobe
I don’t know about you but my winter wardrobe looks rather dull, with lots of dark jumpers, boring jeans and black leggings. Very uninspiring. Why not re-vamp your wardrobe in time for summer, putting all your boring clothes away – and bringing your light, bright and colourful items to the front of your closet.
Get Some Fresh Air
It might sound rather simple, but after being cooped up inside for the last few months, sometimes all we need to refresh is a bit of fresh air. The weather hasn’t been perfect of late, but it’s definitely better than in previous months and it definitely inspires getting about and about a little more (in fact, I’ve even been tempted to go for a jog once or twice – miracle!). Why not take a stroll outside each week – it’s a little bit of exercise and it helps you overcome that sluggish winter feeling too!
Do you have any other ideas to get yourself feeling ready for summer? Are you still suffering winter blues, or looking forward to your summer holidays?
