I honestly can’t believe it’s only seven days until Christmas. I don’t know where the first term has gone, but if you’re anything like me (and it’s come around far too quickly for you to keep up) then a bit of last minute shopping is currently on the to-do list. And with ordering online cutting it a little fine, the only real solution is to head over to the one place that seems to do everything at this time of year. John Lewis. Note to self – just don’t get lost in the handbag section. It may turn out to be very, very expensive.
So introducing, my rather last minute (but perfectly acceptable) Gift Guide For Her.
For mums
I’d love to be able to treat my mum to something from the John Lewis handbag section as ultimately, they are all stunning. One of my favourites is the Modalu Dickens Tote handbag, with a sleek leather design – but big enough to hold all of the (pretty pointless) items that seem to work their way into your bag, slowly but surely. Slippers are an easy ‘to go’ present when it comes to mums, but these gorgeous UGG Slippers have an overriding advantage that will ensure it’s not just an average gift. Not only are they super warm (lined with genuine sheepskin) but they have a cute festive heart knit print that guarantees they’ll be loved by the recipient (well, I’d love them anyway!). I’ve been lusting after the Marc Jacobs Honey fragrance for a little while now, like many others and with a fruity, yet musky scent – I’m sure it would be graciously accepted by any fragrance loving mum! I often find that photo-frames go down a treat when it comes to grandparents or parents – especially if you take the time to print out your favourite pictures of all of you and fit them in. They make perfect ‘last minute’ gifts and John Lewis has a fantastic, affordable selection (with the heart frame pictured available for £8). Who could resist a box of Pink Champagne Truffles? Certainly not I. And certainly not my mother! A new hot water bottle is always a welcome gift!
For grandmothers
Grandmothers are a little trickier to buy for, because you never know whether to go for a practical present, a food-inspired present or something a little more pampering. I’ve chosen a selection of the above for my ‘gift guide’, starting with a gorgeous Christmas Spice candle (which I have myself and love). If your grandmother is more of a ‘treats lady’, then the Sweet Treats Hamper has all you need for a sweet tooth inspired gift. The cute Fallen Hearts Seed Bird Feeder not only will please the birds, but also look pretty in your grandmothers’ garden and the Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia fragrance is bound to be a hit. I love these UGG slippers, made especially warm and thick to keep feet as toasty as possible.
For sisters
My sister is six, so what I’d buy for mine is probably a little different to what you’d buy for yours (dependent on the age), so I thought I’d group together as many ‘sisterly’ presents as I could find. A collage style photo frame is an ideal present for a teenage sister, as I know I couldn’t think of any better present at that age, whilst these cute Hedgehog Slippers are perfect for a younger sister. A bottle of Nina Ricci is a great gift for any aspiring beauty addicts and a snowflake house full of fudge is ideal for those with a sweet tooth.
For all of the above gifts, please visit John Lewis here. And in case you haven’t seen it yet, here’s the advert that everyone’s talking about:
