As you all probably know, Tanya Burr has launched a lip gloss and nail polish line. I’m assuming that you know about this due to the fact that within the first few hours of launching, the feelunique.com site crashed. Coincidence? I think not. I was extremely lucky to have been sent by Scarlett London to Tanya’s launch party at the Sanderson Hotel. It was the second this week that I had been to the Sanderson but I’ll tell you, going during the day and then at night is like two different worlds.
Upon arrival at the Sanderson, (around 6.45pm, thanks to a delayed train) I walked in and I was welcomed at the door by two strapping gentlemen (always a great start). I put my coat into the cloakroom and then ventured to the back room where all of the magic was happening.
As I was entering the party Tanya was with a film crew, so as not to disturb, I gave her a quick smile and watched her do her thing, she looked absolutely stunning and her makeup was just perfect. Crossing the barrier from hotel lobby to party was so strange as the event was completely full and there were so many familiar faces, from the blogging and Youtube community, TOWIE and MIC stars, as well as writers for The Mail, The Star and probably many more!
I was a little nervous, so the first thing I did was go straight to the bar to pick up a glass of champagne before scanning the room. It’s always awkward when you don’t know anyone at a party but thankfully there was a group in front of me who introduced themselves and that got the ball rolling. The first few guests that I was introduced to was the absolutely stunning Patricia Bright and Sammi aka BeautyCrush.
It’s really exciting when you watch peoples Youtube videos and think “oh wow they seem so lovely and down to earth” and then in real life they are even nicer than you thought. Any who, I stayed with these lovely ladies for a while talking about blogging and what we had been up to that day. Sammi had a photo shoot earlier on in the day so I think she was tired and left pretty early and Patricia went off to mingle and thankfully introduced me to a few people!
For the majority of the night I was with Zoe – The London Lipgloss, Emma – Milkteef, and Lily – LLYMRS. The girls were so funny and it was nice to ask them questions about blogging and get some advice and inspiration! I’m glad I stepped up my makeup game that night though because everybody’s makeup was ‘made up’ to absolute perfection!
The event was held in a small room next to the hotel’s restaurant and since there were so many people coming in and out, and the fact that it was really warm in there (and with the champagne flowing), the atmosphere was very relaxed. There were canapés circulating around the room but with champagne, handbags, cameras and phones in hand I didn’t see too many people eating. Walking up a set of stairs in the corner of the room led you to the nail bar where you could get your nails done with the new polishes. Also on the stairway is where you could see the whole collection and pick up a few samples if you wanted to – thanks Patricia for letting me know but it’s a shame my bag was so small!
Tanya gave a little speech where she thanked her fiance Jim, her family and her Gleam team. You could tell how heartfelt the thank yous were and how overwhelmed with emotion and excitement Tanya was. Whilst she was speaking, everyone had their eyes affixed firmly on her, almost mesmerized, like myself, at how perfect her makeup was. I loved that you could really feel the aura of genuine support throughout the room!
I did manage to grab Tanya for a picture before leaving and ask her a few questions but she was so busy and hadn’t even spoken to her family yet so I didn’t want to be that annoying blogger who held her hostage. She did say how happy she was with the turn out of the event and how overwhelmed at the support she had received from everyone. I wanted to ask more questions but she ever so nicely asked me to tweet her if I wanted to ask anything!
One of the highlights of my night was meeting Sam Chapman and Nic Haste, the Pixi Woo sisters. I am such a fan of theirs not only for bringing us the Real Techniques brushes but also for their makeup tutorials which I have learned so much from. I just couldn’t get over the fact of how gorgeous and sweet and down to earth they are in real life! Both Sam and Nic’s skin was ridiculously perfect (whatever they’ve got, I want) and Sam has one killer pair of legs!
Just after chatting to the Pixi Woos I caught Zoe – Zoella, and had a quick convo. She was also very lovely (everyone was so nice to be completely honest!) and I took a quick picture. How nice is the jumpsuit she’s wearing! She was with her gorgeous brother Joe and her boyfriend. All the guy youtubers, Joe Sugg, Alfie, Pewdiepie (who I heard a lot of people talking about as he is currently the biggest Youtuber in the world right now!), looked very dapper wearing suits!
Overall it was such a good night and I am so grateful to have been sent there as it was a great chance to network and meet some of the people I truly admire! It seemed like everyone had a good time and I know that a lot of the girls were going to Mahiki afterwards for a birthday celebration and some of the guys to a Ralph Lauren party!
Before leaving the party I said goodbye to the PR girls, thanked them for such a wonderful night and received my goodie bag. The bag contained Picnic in the Park and Champagne Toast lip glosses and Midnight Sparkles and Peaches and Cream nail polishes, as well as a delicious Cake Pop that I just couldn’t wait to eat! I tried a lip gloss as soon as I got home and I can’t even describe how amazing they smell and how easy to use (for a perfect glossy finish) the applicator is. I can’t wait to share some swatches with you (watch this space).
Thank you Tanya, Gleam and Sparkle PR for such an amazing night!
