Earlier this morning, I received an email from Laura McGreary, who currently works with sandwich company Urban Eat. Each year, Urban Eat hosts competitions aimed at students around the UK. Following successful previous competitions including ‘win your tuition fees’ and ‘win round the world tickets’, their latest competition involves winning £5,000 to spend on the Ultimate Party. Whoa!
Weirdly, I have recently been planning and brainstorming a party of my own. So entering this is pretty easy for me! As you may have noticed, my blog changed over to the domain scarlettlondon.com. This move was the first of many steps in transforming my blog into an online magazine, which has been my ultimate dream for AGES! I hope to have made this move by the new year – which is when the competition closes, so fingers crossed!
In order to celebrate this launch, and also throw a belated ‘Scarlett London Blog’ birthday party – I have been planning a rather elaborate occasion, which I hope lots of my readers will be able to attend. Due to lack of funds however, it’s very unlikely this party will become a reality – so when Laura’s email popped through my inbox, it felt like fate, ha ha! I simply had to enter! Beware though, I’m never great at sticking to budgets!
So, here goes –
BUDGET – £5,000.
The Venue – £3,000.
In February this year, I attended the most magical party at The Kensington Roof Gardens (which happened to be Nixalina’s LFW event) and would love to host my own blog/magazine launch party here also. In my eyes, the venue is the most important part and this venue – is really something special!
The Outfit – £300.
Dress – Topshop, £85, Shoes – Office, £125, Nails – Ciate, £18, Earrings – Debenhams, £20, Tiara – Debenhams, £45.
Although I guess this is a bit of a selfish planned purchase, any host for the ultimate party, needs an ultimate outfit. Right? Since I’ve never, ever had my hands on £5,000 before – I’ve decided to go all out.
The Drinks – £1,000.
Cocktails and champagne are by far my favourite drinks, so any party with my name on it would need to be full of both (and free for everyone!). In aid of the special night, I think it would be aaaamazing to create a brand new cocktail. The ‘Scarlett London’. I’m thinking – a strawberry and vanilla daiquiri with white chocolate shavings. Too sickly?
Entertainment – £700
I’d love to think the party would be entertaining in itself, what with all the drinks and the fantastic venue – however, just to make it that little bit extra special – I would hire a London DJ and would love to look into having a dance troupe/gymnastics group perform. I think Diversity might be pushing it a little (but I do love them).
The Guests – Free (hopefully)!
In order to really make this the ultimate party, I would be sure to invite as many of my blog readers that I could fit into the venue itself, plus all the lovely contacts I’ve made since starting my blog. I haven’t been to a proper event since the summer, so there are loads of people I haven’t seen since then! It would be lovely to have everyone I love and appreciate in one room together, celebrating! Oh, and there would be a few famous faces too!
